Three More SZE Lecturers Appointed as Full Professors

Three lecturers of Széchenyi István University have been appointed as university professors by President of the Republic, Tamás Sulyok: Dr Éva Happ, Associate Professor of the Kautz Gyula Faculty of Business and Economics; Dr Balázs Horváth, Head of the Department of Transport at the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Transport Sciences; and Dr Zoltán Molnár, Vice-Dean of the Albert Kázmér Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Head of the Department of Plant Sciences.

At a ceremony held at the Sándor Palace in recent days, the lecturers of Széchenyi István University – Dr Éva Happ, Dr Balázs Horváth and Dr Zoltán Molnár – received their professorial appointments from President of the Republic, Tamás Sulyok, based on the recommendation of the Ministry of Culture and Innovation.

Dr Éva Happ is a lecturer in the Department of Tourism and Hospitality at the Kautz Gyula Faculty of Business and Economics, and a renowned expert in the fields of tourism and marketing. She has been strengthening Széchenyi István University for more than a decade, contributing to the institution’s strategic and educational development work as Head of Department, Vice-Dean for International Affairs, and currently as Head of Programme Development. She played a key role in renewing tourism-related programmes, in developing several Hungarian and English-language Master’s programmes and specialised postgraduate programmes, and she has taken part in numerous national and international research and development projects. As a Fulbright Scholar, she taught in the United States and has delivered lectures at several European universities. Her work significantly supports the advancement of sustainable and digital tourism themes, as well as the international visibility of Széchenyi István University.

Dr Balázs Horváth is the founding Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Transport Sciences and the Head of the Department of Transport. He is a recognised national expert in transport modelling and transport systems, particularly public transport systems. For 28 years, the focus of his research has been the modelling, planning and evaluation of public transport systems. He also contributes extensively to research at the intersections of related fields, including the relationship between the city and transport, and the effects of autonomous driving on traffic. As Secretary General of the Hungarian Scientific Association for Transport and as Secretary of the Committee on Transport Engineering of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, he plays an active role in Hungary’s transport science community.

Dr Zoltán Molnár, Vice-Dean for International and Scientific Affairs at the Albert Kázmér Mosonmagyaróvár Faculty and Head of the Department of Plant Sciences, has been a defining figure on the Mosonmagyaróvár campus for more than three decades. He has worked at the institution since 1989, contributing significantly to shaping the faculty’s scientific, research and internationalisation directions as Head of Department, Deputy Dean, and previously as Director of Institute. His work is rooted in plant biology, plant science and modern agricultural innovations, with research contributing to the development of sustainable crop production and modern agricultural technologies. He also places great emphasis on talent development: for several years, he led the Agronomist Special College of Mosonmagyaróvár, one of the Faculty’s outstanding professional communities. He also plays an important role in international networks of agricultural research.
