Széchenyi István University has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Green Energy Investhor Plc, a key player in Hungary’s green transition and renewable energy sector. Through this partnership, the two organizations will jointly support education, research, and innovation in the field of sustainable energy, while expanding professional development opportunities for students.

One of Széchenyi István University’s strategic objectives is to contribute to building a sustainable future and advancing the green transition. A central role in this effort is played by the Department of Applied Sustainability, which focuses on education and research in renewable energy utilization, energy innovation, and the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) approach. For the University, it is essential that academic programmes are built on real industrial collaborations and provide students with practical knowledge that is increasingly in demand in the renewable energy sector. The cooperation agreement with Green Energy Investhor Plc marks another milestone in this strategic direction, as the company’s practical experience and technological expertise will be directly integrated into the University’s activities.

Founded in 2021, Green Energy Investhor Plc is committed to producing sustainable, clean energy for Hungary in the long term. The company develops complex, interlinked systems that integrate solar and wind power plants with intelligent energy storage solutions, ensuring that the green energy produced is available continuously, reliably and efficiently. Through its completed and ongoing projects, the company makes a significant contribution to national energy security and to economic growth based on clean energy.

On December 10, the two organizations concluded a strategic agreement under which they will work closely together in education, research and development, and training. Experts from Green Energy Investhor Plc will deliver lectures and seminars on the utilization of renewable energy sources and will also support the supervision of student research projects (TDK) and thesis work. The company will provide internship opportunities, particularly for students enrolled in the Environmental Engineering bachelor’s programme and the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Expert master’s programme, enabling young professionals to gain experience in a real corporate environment.

The company will also offer professional support for doctoral research. In addition, the partnership extends to the organization of events, roundtable discussions, and conference participation aimed at increasing public and professional awareness of renewable energy.

“Sustainable energy is one of the most dynamically developing fields today, in which universities must simultaneously respond to research trends, the needs of economic stakeholders, and students’ expectations. This cooperation is especially valuable for us because it brings corporate experience directly into education in ways that are closely aligned with our academic programmes,” said Dr András Torma, Head of the Department of Applied Sustainability.

We believe that connecting education, research and development, and industry expertise in the field of renewable energy utilization can accelerate innovation and, in the long term, strengthen Hungary’s competitiveness, energy independence, and security of supply. We are proud to contribute to this joint effort with our experience and developments,” said Antal Ritter, CEO of Green Energy Investhor Plc.
