Students Explore Career Opportunities at SZE’s Job Fair

At the November Job Fair of Széchenyi István University, students had the opportunity to meet directly with the key players in the economic life of the region. Participants were able to learn not only about job offers, but also about the tricks of the application and interview process and even of the possibility of joining the Student Teams of SZE.

Every six months, Széchenyi István University organises a Job Fair for students, graduates, young graduates and young professionals, offering networking opportunities with labour market players. On 12 November, major companies and employers in the region, as well as the University’s industrial partners, once again presented themselves to the public at their own stands at the Győr campus.

„At our exhibition, the companies and institutions present offer young people open positions, i.e. internships and jobs. The great advantage of the programme is that our students can meet and talk to representatives of their potential jobs in person, and the student teams of our University present themselves in a spectacular way and offer them the opportunity to join,” said Effi Zentai, the University’s careers officer. She added that the students of the Master’s programme in Human Resources Counselling were also present at the event, providing useful tips on how to successfully search for a job, write a CV and cover letter, and conduct a successful job interview.

“The company Rába Járműipari Holding Nyrt. has been a regular participant at Széchenyi University’s Job Fair for several years and maintains a long-term, close relationship with the institution. It is important for us to engage students as broadly as possible; and we currently offer various opportunities for interns, recent graduates, and experienced applicants alike. In addition to positions in mechanical engineering, we are also looking for applicants in fields like controlling and sales, where they can gain valuable professional experience,” explained Dóra Bécsi-Balogh, Head of HR Recruitment Team at Rába Nyrt. She added that young people are increasingly well-prepared and purposeful when approaching their stand, allowing time not only for general information but also for focused discussions on shared opportunities. The Rába Group considers these events highly successful, as many students over the years have progressed from interns to full-time employees.

It was not the first time that Franka Rendek, a third-year student of the Institute’s Employment Relations and Social Insurance Expert programme, visited the exhibition. „It is important for me to get to know the situation of the labour market and the current opportunities, which is what Széchenyi University offers with this programme. The biannual exchange reaches a large number of students and provides an opportunity to network with a large number of companies in one place at the same time,” she stressed. She added that visiting the booths is also a great thing to do where, in addition to getting to know the companies, you can also find many interesting and informative publications and products related to the brand of the company.

Among the exhibitors were some of the world’s top student teams, such as the multiple world record holders SZEnergy Team, the Arrabona Racing Team, which triumphed at this year’s Hungarian edition of the Formula Student series, and SZEngine, which develops engines for them. „We are attending this event because we believe it is essential for new students to get to know us, alongside the corporate opportunities. Participating in student teams provides them with extensive practical knowledge and professional experience, offering a significant advantage in the job market,” said Bálint Bendegúz Sellei, who has been a member of the SZEngine team for two years, studying Engineering Manager Master’s Programme after graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Vehicle Engineering. He said they are not only looking for engineers, but are open to all students who want to develop skills such as teamwork, responsibility and problem solving.
