At its latest meeting of core members, the Doctoral School of Regional- and Business Administration Sciences at Széchenyi István University expressed its appreciation to two distinguished professors, Dr Lívia Mihályka Ablonczyné and Dr László Komlósi, for their dedicated service. The addition of new core members was also announced at the event, and a decision was reached regarding the handover of the leadership of the SZEEDSM English-language doctoral programme, ensuring the continuity of the academic work.
The Doctoral School of Regional- and Business Administration Sciences at Széchenyi István University recently held a meeting of its core members. During the event, participants expressed their gratitude to Professor Lívia Mihályka Ablonczyné for her committed work as a core member, and to Dr László Komlósi for his dedicated service as Head of the SZEEDSM doctoral programme.
Those present were welcomed by Professor Dr László Vasa, Head of the Doctoral School, who praised the two professors for their decades of academic contribution. Dr Lívia Mihályka Ablonczyné, who currently also supervises seven doctoral candidates, emphasised her intention to remain actively involved in supporting doctoral education and academic research. “In the future, I would also like to contribute to strengthening international research networks and to publish even more than I have done so far,” she remarked.
Dr László Komlósi played a key role in the development and operation of the SZEEDSM programme. In his reflection, the professor recalled that this doctoral programme was launched in 2015, with the first cohort of students beginning their studies in 2016. “Over the past years, together with numerous colleagues, we have worked to develop the programme, strengthen recruitment processes, and build an international student community,” he highlighted.

The addition of several new core members was also announced at the meeting. In the future, the work of the Doctoral School will be strengthened by Dr Tibor Dőry, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Management and Marketing at the Kautz Gyula Faculty of Business and Economics; Professor Dr Róbert Magda, Professor at the Department of International and Applied Economics; Dr Gábor Szabó-Szentgróti, Associate Professor and Vice-Dean for Research Organisation and Publications at the Kautz Faculty; and Dr Eszter Lukács, Vice-President for International Affairs and Strategic Relations at Széchenyi István University. At the same time, Dr Gábor Szabó-Szentgróti will take over the leadership of the English-taught SZEEDSM doctoral programme.
The core members also elected the members of the Doctoral School Council. Dr Gábor Szabó-Szentgróti joined the decision-making body as a new internal member, while Dr Zoltán Csedő, Professor and Head of Department at Corvinus University of Budapest, joined as an external member.
The Doctoral School has undergone significant development in recent years. An increasing number of foreign experts are being involved in teaching and specialised seminar activities, the number of high-quality international publications is growing, and there is rising interest in their Hungarian and English-language doctoral programmes. This is clearly demonstrated by the fact that the School registered nearly one hundred applicants this year alone, half of whom came from abroad, with the majority seeking to pursue their doctoral studies on a self-funded basis.
