Numerous leisure and sports programmes, concerts and parties awaited the University’s students and visitors at the Széchenyi University Days. Among others, Desh, Beton.Hofi and Dzsúdló took to the main stage at the Bridge Students’ and Staff Club, while during the daytime the campus park served as the central venue of the event.
In recent years, the Széchenyi University Days (SZEN) have become not only one of the University’s, but also one of Győr’s most widely attended multi-day programmes. This is true in the literal sense as well, as there was no shortage of sporting activities at this year’s event either.
“Our University places great emphasis on physical activity and health, which aligns with students’ interests. Therefore, we offered numerous sports programmes to festivalgoers,” revealed Milán Malomsoki, sports officer of the University’s Students’ Union. “This year, several national sports event qualifiers were also scheduled for this week. Both the Red Bull Four 2 Score and the EFOTT darts championship proved highly popular. We were also pleased to see many participants take part in the first SZE Dragon Boat Cup, which we intend to organise again next year,” he added.

“Most of the daytime programmes were held in the extended-opening-hours chill park, which was expanded compared to last year with additional pavilions and play elements. Many people made use of our festival services, such as hair braiding, make-up, hairdressing and massage,” said Bence Buda Szabó, chief organiser of the event, who also reported on further innovations. “One of our key objectives was to broaden the audience of SZEN and make the festival more attractive to the residents of Győr as well. Therefore, we expanded the repertoire with amusement park elements, among which I would highlight the bumper carts and laser clay pigeon shooting,” he noted.

It has become a tradition for international and Hungarian students to present their nations’ traditional dishes during the University Days, thereby bringing their cultures closer together through gastronomy. The Indian team prepared chicken biryani, which is considered a classic dish on the subcontinent. “We are delighted that we could showcase the flavours of our country. In addition to enjoying cooking together, it was great to get to know so many fellow students,” said Robert Anthony, a student of Human Resources Counselling.

The festival began on Sunday, 19 April, with a Halls of Residence dodgeball event, followed on Monday by a car skills competition, and on Tuesday by a beer pong championship, concluding the lead-up programmes. From Wednesday onwards, the Bridge Students’ and Staff Club also opened its doors. On the upper floor, Matyi és a Hegedűs, Mary Nótár and the band Fáraó created a great atmosphere, while on the lower floor popular Hungarian DJs performed.
The main stage in the club courtyard launched on Thursday evening, where hip-hop and rap dominated the line-up throughout the nights, with performers including KKevin, Desh, BSW, Beton.Hofi and Dzsúdló, while for the first time in the festival’s history, Girlhood and Belano – known for the Hungarian X-Factor – also appeared on the main stage. As the frontmen of the bands indicated to the audience, these were their first festival concerts of the year, making it clear that SZEN once again opened the outdoor concert season in 2026.
“Everyone really liked the silent disco. The fact that the music is played through headphones on multiple channels creates a completely different experience compared to a traditional disco,” said Benedek Vadasi, a first-year Civil Engineering student.
“SZEN is one of Győr’s largest light music festivals, with excellent performers, so I simply couldn’t miss it,” stated Bernadett Rohály, who attended the event as a visitor. “Personally, I was most looking forward to Beton.Hofi, but I also loved the retro performers. There was something in the programme for everyone,” she added.
Although SZEN has come to an end, the summer still holds numerous programmes: the Bridge Garden will once again open this year, where many prominent performers from the Hungarian music scene will appear up until October.
