To mark the national holiday of 20 August, commemorating the foundation of the Hungarian state, Dr Tamás Sulyok, President of the Republic, conferred prestigious state awards upon several leaders and staff members of Széchenyi István University.
In recognition of his outstanding leadership and professional achievements in the field of communications administration, his dedicated teaching, and his activities in support of young people, Dr Péter Vári, electrical engineer, engineer-economist and lawyer, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Informatics and Electrical Engineering of Széchenyi István University, and Deputy Director General of the National Media and Infocommunications Authority, has been awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit of Hungary.

In recognition of his outstanding professional achievements, Dr Attila Kiss, research chemist, Vice-Dean of the Albert Kázmér Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences of the University, and Director of the Agricultural and Food Industry Knowledge Utilisation Centre of the Faculty of Agricultural, Food Sciences and Environmental Management at the University of Debrecen, was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit (Civil Division). The same honour was bestowed upon Dr András Unger, dairy industry specialist engineer, retired Director of the Hungarian Dairy Research Institute Ltd., honorary associate professor of Széchenyi István University, and President of the Mosonmagyaróvár Town Protection Association. He received the award in recognition of his decades-long professional, scientific and teaching contributions to the dairy industry, as well as his efforts to preserve the values of the town.

Dr Sándor Remsei, economist, Dean of the Kautz Gyula Faculty of Business and Economics of the University and associate professor and Head of Department, was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit (Civil Division).
In recognition of his outstanding professional contributions, Péter Knauz, Strategic Director of Pannon Famulus Ltd. (owned by Széchenyi István University) and Managing Director of the University’s Uniklub Ltd., was awarded the Hungarian Gold Cross of Merit (Civil Division).

The Hungarian Silver Cross of Merit (Civil Division) was conferred upon Gábor Hancz, Head of the Directorate for Communication and Press Relations of Széchenyi István University and Deputy Mayor of Győrsövényház.
