The 4th Uni Győr Rally will take place on 11–12 September in strategic partnership with Széchenyi István University. A total of 83 crews have registered for the two-day event, with fierce competition expected across several championship categories. Details of the event were announced on 8 September at a press conference held at Széchenyi István University’s Győr Innovation Park.
Győr and the surrounding area will once again be buzzing with visitors on the second weekend of September, the 11th and 12th, for one of the highlights of the Hungarian motorsport calendar. As announced at the press conference for the event, Friday promises to be a real family day. Alongside the spectacular city centre stage, the university’s Győr campus will be hosting activities for all ages, including free go-karting, face painting and road safety programmes.
Prof. Dr. Ferenc Friedler, the university’s Rector and Vice-President for Scientific Affairs at Széchenyi István University, spoke about the university’s close ties to motorsport and the importance of nurturing student talent. He emphasised that, alongside modern programmes – such as the Master’s programme in Motorsport Engineering and the specialised further training programme in Technical Sports Management – students can gain real-world practical experience that will later give them a competitive advantage in the labour market. “This year, the SZEnergy Team, developing electric vehicles, won Europe’s most prestigious energy efficiency competition for the fifth consecutive time, setting a world record. The Arrabona Racing Team secured third place overall in the electric category at the Formula Student Spain competition; while SZEngine unveiled its first in-house developed competition car with a hybrid powertrain,” he noted. He added that the university is an active player in the world of technical sports, which is why they consider it important to contribute to the success of the Győr Rally as well.

“We are holding the Győr Rally for the fourth time this year. Spectators will see the fourth round of the top-tier Hungarian National Rally Championship and Challenge divisions (ORB/ORC), Historic and Rally2 championships. A total of 83 crews have entered, five of them competing for the colours of Uni Győr WMS, the motorsport section of the university’s sports club. The programme kicks off on Friday with a spectacular prologue in the city centre, with the start and finish ceremonies taking place at Egyetem tér. On Saturday, the action will continue on the Écs-Rábaring and Ravazd–Tényő stages, with a total of eight special stages and nearly 100 kilometres of competitive action,” explained Kristóf Czézinger on behalf of the organising committee. He added that safety is their top priority, which is why they are asking all spectators to follow the races exclusively from the designated viewing points and to comply with the instructions of the marshals, organisers and security staff.
In the ORB, the University team will be represented by the crews Kristóf Klausz and Viktor Bán, Vilmos Cseh and Gergely Németh, Dávid Faltusz and Róbert Balai, as well as Dorka Zagyva and Frida Spitzer, while Bence Hidvégi and Fanni Molnár will take part in the event as a zero car crew. The fact that the competition is particularly fierce in several championship categories only adds to the excitement of the Győr race.

“I’m really looking forward to the race, which is particularly important to me as a member of Uni Győr WMS. Dávid Faltusz and I are neck and neck in the Peugeot Cup, so I’m expecting a fierce battle. I think Friday’s city-centre special stage will be one of the most spectacular parts of the weekend. And my message to the girls is: keep at it, because we can hold our own in motorsport too,” added Dorka Zagyva, last year’s U25 champion.
Dávid Faltusz, last year’s Rally2 champion, emphasised that, as a driver from Győr, this event is always special to him. “Although I’m on home turf, Dorka is a very strong opponent, so I’ll need a good strategy. The atmosphere at the Győr Rally is always brilliant; we get to race in front of a large crowd, which provides extra motivation. I’d encourage the residents of Győr to come along, as both the city-centre stage and the Rábaring track promise plenty of excitement,” he remarked.
Bence Hidvégi is competing in Győr for the first time as a driver. “I’d like to learn as much as possible, improve and have a successful weekend. As a zero car crew, however, we have a particularly important role to play, as we must ensure the safety of the spectators before the field arrives. I’m really looking forward to experiencing this special race first-hand, and I’m confident that next year I’ll be on the start line as part of the competitive field,” he emphasised.

During the two days of the race, temporary traffic restrictions, road closures and increased traffic are to be expected in Győr and in the areas around Écs, Ravazd and Tényő. The organisers ask drivers to pay attention to the posted signs and to drive with caution.
