Last year, he not only won in his category but also achieved the best overall result. Patrik Lipovics from Gy\u0151r, who is already competing in Formula 4 this year, was also recognised.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the past two decades, Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University has become Hungary\u2019s most dynamically developing higher education institution with a focus on motorsport. Key pillars of this include its world-class student racing teams \u2013 such as&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/admissions.sze.hu\/arrabona-racing-team-sze-student-team-prepares-for-second-electric-season?ckw=ZWxlY3RyaWMgc2Vhc29u\">Arrabona Racing Team<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/admissions.sze.hu\/new-challenges-for-20-year-old-szenergy-sze-team-enters-prototype-category?ckw=c3plbmVyZ3k=\">SZEnergy Team<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/admissions.sze.hu\/szengine-on-new-path-team-from-sze-to-build-own-car-and-compete-independently-in-formula-student?ckw=c3plbmdpbmU=\">SZEngine<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 its&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/admissions.sze.hu\/formula-1-experts-teaching-in-sze-s-unique-motorsport-engineering-programme?ckw=bW90b3JzcG9ydCBlbmdpbmVlcmluZw==\">motorsport engineering<\/a>&nbsp;master\u2019s programme, unique in Central Europe, the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/admissions.sze.hu\/the-hungaroring-external-department-of-motorsport-of-sze-commences-its-operation?ckw=aHVuZ2Fyb3Jpbmc=\">Hungaroring External Department of Motorsport<\/a>, as well as competitions organised with the University\u2019s involvement, such as the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/admissions.sze.hu\/exciting-weekend-ahead-3rd-whb-gyor-rally-arrives-in-gyor-and-at-sze?ckw=Z3nFkXIgcmFsbHk=\">Gy\u0151r Rally<\/a>. The competitiveness of the practical education provided by the institution is also demonstrated by the fact that its graduates now work for Formula 1 teams such as&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/admissions.sze.hu\/young-professional-and-graduate-of-sze-is-intern-with-mercedes-formula-1-team?ckw=bWVyY2VkZXM=\">Mercedes<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/admissions.sze.hu\/current-and-former-sze-students-contribute-to-success-of-audi-s-formula-1-debut?ckw=cmV2b2x1dA==\">Audi<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/admissions.sze.hu\/championship-titles-and-podium-finishes-motorsport-success-for-sze-domestically-and-internationally?ckw=Q2hhbXBpb25zaGlwIFRpdGxlcyBhbmQgUG9kaXVtIEZpbmlzaGVzOiBNb3RvcnNwb3J0IFN1Y2Nlc3MgZm9yIFNaRSBEb21lc3RpY2FsbHkgYW5kIEludGVybmF0aW9uYWxseQ==\">University\u2019s motorsport division<\/a>, Uni Gy\u0151r WMS, has also achieved outstanding success, with its drivers winning numerous national and international accolades year after year. On 23 March, the team\u2019s karting driver, Vilmos \u201cVil\u00f3\u201d Willisits, received the FIA President\u2019s Medal at the University\u2019s Gy\u0151r campus. The award is based on an objective evaluation, as it is granted to the best junior, senior and female drivers according to the national karting rankings. The young athlete not only finished first in the junior category but was also the best overall karting driver in Hungary in the 2025 season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The winner of the senior category was Patrik Lipovics from Gy\u0151r, a driver for Hunok Motorsport, meaning that two of the three medals awarded to Hungary went to Gy\u0151r. I am convinced they are making an excellent decision, as our institution is committed to supporting dual career pathways, providing an environment where sporting performance and academic studies can reinforce one another,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0said Dr Eszter Luk\u00e1cs, Vice-President for International Affairs and Strategic Relations of Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University, at the ceremony. She added that karting is important for the institution as it forms the foundation of motorsport and serves as a key tool for talent development. Based on the national ranking established in 2025, the prestigious awards were presented for the first time, two of which were immediately won by the two talented young drivers from Gy\u0151r.&nbsp;<em>\u201cCongratulations on the recognition, and I trust that they will achieve similar successes in the future,\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;he emphasised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cI am very pleased to have earned the medal; we worked extremely hard for it throughout last year. This year, I would like to continue on this path, win championships and keep improving. I have already completed several races successfully, which makes me optimistic about the season as a whole,\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;said Vilmos \u201cVil\u00f3\u201d Willisits.
