Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University paid tribute to the memory of the Revolution and War of Independence of 1848\u201349 with a dignified ceremony. As part of the event, doctoral degrees were conferred and the Institution\u2019s prestigious awards were presented to those whose work has significantly contributed to the development of the University.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University held its commemorative ceremony marking the Revolution and War of Independence of 1848\u201349 on 12 March. In his address, Dr Ferenc Friedler, Rector and Vice-President for Scientific Affairs of the University, emphasised that the success of nations and institutions today depends on performance just as much as it did in the mid-19th century. As he noted, the University must also rise to the occasion in this spirit: through its educational, research and innovation activities it must contribute to the country\u2019s competitiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe encourage our young researchers and doctoral candidates to look to the heroes of that time as examples and approach the questions of their own scientific fields with a kind of revolutionary mindset: to dare to rethink them from deeper foundations. The advancement of science, the achievement of significant results and the success of young researchers often require a similar intellectual courage, which has also characterised the great turning points of history,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he said. He added that the University encourages professional ambition and supports excellence in research and teaching so that outstanding achievements can emerge as genuine values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the address, the ceremony continued with the presentation of awards. The Pro Universitate Award recognises the work of University staff members as well as citizens and public figures who support the University and who have made significant contributions to achieving the Institution\u2019s goals and enhancing its reputation and prestige. The award was presented to Dr Mih\u00e1ly T. R\u00e9v\u00e9sz, honorary associate professor, in recognition of his outstanding leadership and organisational work that played a key role in establishing and strengthening legal education in Gy\u0151r.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 15 March ceremony traditionally also provides an opportunity for candidates who have obtained their doctoral degrees to take their oath and receive their diplomas. At the event, the following were conferred doctoral degrees: Dr Izabella Izdig, Dr Bettina Koz\u00e1k, Dr \u00c9va Nyerges, Dr Szil\u00e1rd P\u00e1lfay and Dr Tam\u00e1s Istv\u00e1n Stipkovits (candidates of the Doctoral School of Law and Political Sciences); Ahmad Dema Munef, Norbert Hegyi, P\u00e9ter J\u00e1nos M\u00fcller, P\u00e9ter N\u00e9meth, Attila Nyitrai, M\u00e1rk Pesthy, Veronika Anna Szab\u00f3, Viktor Szab\u00f3, Herman Sz\u0171cs, Rich\u00e1rd Tak\u00e1cs and B\u00e1lint Vaszilievits-S\u00f6mj\u00e9n (candidates of the Doctoral School of Multidisciplinary Engineering Sciences); as well as Abd Alrauf Abd Alhameed Alkhatib Sewart, Brigitta Gy\u00f6ngyi B\u00e1nhidi, P\u00e9ter B\u00e1rk\u00e1nyi, Zsolt Csaba Horv\u00e1th, Md Kamal Hossain, Mrs G\u00e1bor Nagy, J\u00f3zsef Pap, Andrea Pozsgai, Szabolcs R\u00e1kosi and T\u00edmea Vastag (candidates of the Doctoral School of Regional- and Business Administration Sciences).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on the decision of the University Habilitation Council, eight individuals fulfilled the requirements of the habilitation procedure: in the field of business and organisational sciences Dr Zolt\u00e1n Egri; in the field of informatics Dr Zolt\u00e1n Ercsey, Dr \u00c1d\u00e1m Schiffer and Dr J\u00f3zsef Kopj\u00e1k; in the field of regional sciences Dr Ferenc Darabos, Dr Vikt\u00f3ria Kundi and Dr Andr\u00e1s Szeber\u00e9nyi; and in the field of law and political sciences Dr Bal\u00e1zs P\u00e1lv\u00f6lgyi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following a recital by \u00c1d\u00e1m Gyimesi, an acting student of the Gy\u0151r National Theatre, awards related to education were presented. The title of Honorary University Professor was awarded to Dr Attila Simon, Chief Executive Officer of Herendi Porcel\u00e1nmanufakt\u00fara Ltd., and Dr L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Sz\u00e9plaki, President of the Gy\u0151r Regional Court of Appeal. The title of Honorary Associate Professor was awarded to Csaba Kocsis, dual education expert at E.ON North Transdanubian Power Network Ltd., and Zolt\u00e1n Sch\u00f6nl\u00e9ber, owner of Z+R Consulting Ltd. The title of Honorary Master Instructor was awarded to Gy\u00f6rgyi Jankovics N\u00e9methn\u00e9, professional director of Rejuniva Ltd., Dr Bendeg\u00faz Homonnai of the Homonnai Law Office, and Dr Gy\u00f6rgy Czirfusz, managing attorney of the Czirfusz Law Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The leadership of Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University awards the Pro Educatione Prize to colleagues who have provided outstanding teaching activities over a long period. This recognition was awarded to Dr G\u00e1bor Borb\u00e9ly, associate professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Info-communications of the Faculty of Informatics and Electrical Engineering, and Dr Eszter Zs\u00e9dely, Vice-Dean for Educational Affairs at the Albert K\u00e1zm\u00e9r Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Istv\u00e1n Bakonyi Excellent Teaching Award was presented to Dr Ferenc Giczi, associate professor at the Department of Mathematics and Physics of the Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering; Dr Kriszti\u00e1n Kopp\u00e1ny, associate professor at the Department of International and Applied Economics of the Kautz Gyula Faculty of Business and Economics; and Dr Erika Lencs\u00e9s-Varga, associate professor at the Department of Animal Sciences of the Albert K\u00e1zm\u00e9r Faculty of Mosonmagyar\u00f3v\u00e1r. The Excellent Mentor Award was granted to Petra Kemecsein\u00e9 Inhaizer, teacher at the Szent-Gy\u00f6rgyi Albert Health and Social Technical and Vocational Training School, and Dr Szabolcs R\u00e1mh\u00e1p, associate professor at the Department of Corporate Leadership and Marketing of the Kautz Gyula Faculty of Business and Economics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the ceremony, awards recognising dedicated work for university students and the community were also presented. The title Distinguished Citizen of Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University was awarded to Magdolna P\u00e1kozdi, director of the Szent-Gy\u00f6rgyi Albert Health and Social Technical and Vocational Training School; Dr Csaba S\u00e1ndor Horv\u00e1th, associate professor at the Department of Humanities and Human Resources of the Ap\u00e1czai Csere J\u00e1nos Faculty of Pedagogy, Humanities and Social Sciences; and Dr Attila Ol\u00e1h, professor at the Department of Department of Theoretical Health Sciences and Nursing of the Faculty of Health and Sport Sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Governing Board Certificate of Merit (Gold Grade) was awarded to Mrs Ferenc Kov\u00e1cs, teacher at the \u00d6veges K\u00e1lm\u00e1n Practice Primary School of Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University, and Dr Andr\u00e1s Torma, head of the Department of Applied Sustainability of the Albert K\u00e1zm\u00e9r Faculty of Mosonmagyar\u00f3v\u00e1r. The Silver Grade was awarded to P\u00e9ter Homor, Head of Centre at the University Library and Archives, and Dr D\u00e1niel R\u00f3bert Szab\u00f3, assistant lecturer at the Department of Statistics, Finance and Controlling of the Kautz Gyula Faculty of Business and Economics. The title Excellent Staff Member was awarded to Bal\u00e1zs D\u00f6brentei, departmental engineer at the Department of Transport; Enik\u0151 Horv\u00e1th, academic registrator at the Department of Academic Affairs; Judit M\u00e1ria Merk\u00f3-Benk\u0151, administrative officer of the Kautz Gyula Faculty of Business and Economics; Mrs Zolt\u00e1n L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Stevula, accounting officer at the Department of Statistics, Finances and Controlling; and Marianna \u00c9va T\u00f6r\u00f6kn\u00e9 Vas, science administration officer at the Doctoral Studies and Habilitation Centre.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Student-Friendly University Award was granted to T\u00fcnde Guly\u00e1sn\u00e9 Ga\u00e1l, Head of the Department of Academic Affairs, while Dr P\u00e9ter N\u00e9meth, Scientific Secretary and Director of the HUN-REN University Centre of International Excellence at the University, received the University Community Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ceremonial occasion also provided an opportunity for the institution to honour staff members who are retiring after several decades of dedicated service to the University. The Service Recognition Certificate of Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University is awarded to those who have worked for the success of the community for at least 25 years. The recognition was presented to Mrs Andr\u00e1s Horv\u00e1th, teacher at the Szent-Gy\u00f6rgyi Albert Health and Social Technical and Vocational Training School; Mrs Emil Horv\u00e1th, data clerk at the S Research Support and Collections Development Unit of the University Library and Archives; G\u00e1bor Horv\u00e1th, master instructor at the Department of Mathematics and Physics of the Faculty of Informatics and Electrical Engineering; Dr L\u00e1szl\u00f3 J\u00f3zsa, professor at the Department of Corporate Leadership and Marketing of the Kautz Gyula Faculty of Business and Economics; Dr Levente Ferenc Solecki, assistant lecturer at the Department of Department of Materials Engineering and Machine Design of the Audi Hungaria Faculty of Engineering; and Lajos Szab\u00f3, assistant lecturer at the Department of Transport of the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Transport Sciences.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
