The Pannonia Scholarship Programme, which offers short- and long-term mobility opportunities, provides university students, lecturers and staff with the chance to study, conduct research, teach or complete professional internships in any country in the world within a funded framework. At the MobiliTea event organised by Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University, Hungarian and international students were able to learn everything about the application conditions.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year as well, students of Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University can gain international experience supporting their studies, careers and personal development, as well as lifelong memories through the\u00a0Pannonia Scholarship Programme<\/a>. M\u00e1rta M\u00e9sz\u00e1ros, head of the Institution\u2019s Centre for Mobility and Scholarships, encouraged young people at the MobiliTea event \u2013 held with great interest \u2013 to take advantage of the opportunity.\u00a0\u201cThose who would like to spend an entire semester abroad should search among institutions that offer programmes or subjects similar to the one they are studying in Gy\u0151r. If someone would rather complement the knowledge gained here with new experiences, they may also choose a much shorter period. An important piece of information when making a decision is that the duration of long-term student mobility supported by the Pannonia Programme is two to six months, while short programmes last from two to thirty days,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0she explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ildik\u00f3 Nagy, a staff member of the Centre, explained that the University has partners in nearly fifty countries across the world, meaning that interested applicants can easily select a destination from the continuously expanding list available online<\/a>, and may even initiate new partnerships. She added that the amount of the scholarships available varies depending on the destination country and the type of mobility: in the case of long-term mobility, the monthly support ranges between HUF 350,000 and HUF 400,000, while for short-term programmes it can reach up to HUF 35,000 per day. Master\u2019s students, students in undivided programmes and doctoral candidates may also receive an excellence scholarship of HUF 450,000\u2013500,000 per month if they participate in a partial study programme lasting one to six months at a university ranked within the top 250 of the world rankings of Times Higher Education<\/em> <\/em>or Quacquarelli Symonds.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The information session also revealed that, in the case of long-term mobility, the\u00a0application form<\/a>\u00a0can be completed until Monday, 16 March at 23:59, while applications for\u00a0short-term mobility<\/a>\u00a0may be submitted until 31 May (or until the available funds are exhausted). The latter may also aim to support participation in international conferences, professional events or academic competitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDuring architectural studies, it is extremely important for young professionals to become familiar with the architectural styles of as many countries as possible. The Pannonia Scholarship Programme is also a great help in this regard; through it we have so far taken our students to Brno and Prague in connection with the curriculum of specific subjects. The success of this initiative is shown by the fact that one of our students later returned to Brno for a full semester, also with the support of the programme,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0said \u00c1d\u00e1m T\u00e1trai, lecturer at the Department of Architectural Design. J\u00falia Stein, assistant lecturer at the Department of History of Architecture and Town Planning, added that it is a tremendous opportunity that support can be requested for such activities, allowing a wide range of students to participate in study trips that provide invaluable experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to previous Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University scholarship recipients, it is well worth taking advantage of mobility opportunities. Dorina Bosits, a law student, spent a semester studying in Graz, where she also participated in research and improved her German language skills to an almost native level. \u201cThe European Human Rights course was taught by Elizabeth Steiner, former judge of the European Court of Human Rights, who took us to Strasbourg and personally introduced us to the operation of the organisation. Helmut Tichy \u2013 who represented Austria at the United Nations for many years \u2013 was also my lecturer, so I had the opportunity to visit the organisation\u2019s Vienna headquarters as well,\u201d<\/em> she listed. She added that she will also submit an application for the semester starting in September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

B\u00e1lint Francsics, a vehicle engineering student, spent a semester at the University of Central Florida in the United States. \u201cAs a final-year student it seemed risky to embark on such an experience, but in retrospect it clearly proved to be one of the best decisions I have ever made. During the semester I also moved closer professionally to the field that truly suits me, while the experiences gained in an international environment not only broadened my language skills and horizons but also taught me independence and adaptability. It was inspiring to experience a different educational system and to study and collaborate in a multicultural environment every day,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Liza Dalma Pertl, who studies agricultural engineering, spent the past five months in Almer\u00eda, Spain within the framework of the Pannonia Programme. \u201cThis period gave me far more than I had expected beforehand. Thanks to the international community, I never once felt like an outsider. I also developed greatly in my studies: I successfully completed a Spanish language course and my English improved tremendously as well. The lecturers were extremely supportive and always worked to help us achieve the best possible results,\u201d<\/em> she shared. She added that the administration related to the mobility process was also smooth and that she received quick answers to all her questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
