More than one hundred and seventy students received their diplomas at the graduation ceremony of SZE\u2019s Albert K\u00e1zm\u00e9r Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences in Mosonmagyar\u00f3v\u00e1r. In addition to welcoming the newly qualified agricultural professionals of Mosonmagyar\u00f3v\u00e1r, one lecturer and several students were also recognised at the event.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Albert K\u00e1zm\u00e9r Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences in Mosonmagyar\u00f3v\u00e1r of Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University held its graduation ceremony on 6 February. The newly graduated professionals were first welcomed by Dr Tam\u00e1s T\u00f3th, research professor and Dean of the Faculty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur faculty is built on more than two hundred years of tradition, while at the same time possessing a clear vision for the future. The focus of our education and research lies in precision agriculture, agri-digitalisation, sustainability and food chain innovation. The challenges ahead of us \u2013 climate change, efficient resource management and food safety \u2013 can only be addressed through a systems-based approach and cooperation. This is why we consider it particularly important that classical knowledge in crop science, animal science and food science is closely integrated with engineering and IT solutions, including sensor technologies, the Internet of Things and analyses enabled by artificial intelligence,\u201d<\/em> he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that their activities are guided by clear strategic objectives: strengthening international competitiveness, accrediting new English-taught programmes, and expanding project-based education built on corporate partnerships. \u201cI wish you every success in carrying forward the knowledge and mindset acquired here, and that through your work you contribute to a more efficient, sustainable and innovative agricultural and food economy,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he said in his farewell to the students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his welcome address, Minister of Agriculture Dr Istv\u00e1n Nagy \u2013 who himself obtained his degree in Mosonmagyar\u00f3v\u00e1r \u2013 emphasised that hardworking hands and well-educated minds will always be needed in Hungarian agriculture and the food industry.\u00a0\u201cThe agricultural professionals of Mosonmagyar\u00f3v\u00e1r have already created many values and successfully overcome many struggles. Your predecessors can rightly be proud of these achievements. At the same time, there are an increasing number of challenges to which we do not yet know the answers. All we know is that we are not alone, and that the solution is here in this room,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he declared. He added that the University was founded more than two hundred years ago to provide its students with knowledge that enables them to respond to the questions of their own era.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mayor Mikl\u00f3s Szab\u00f3 emphasised that Mosonmagyar\u00f3v\u00e1r is the students\u2019 second home, and that following graduation every graduate becomes an honorary citizen of the city.\u00a0\u201cFor two hundred years now, the University has been an important part of Mosonmagyar\u00f3v\u00e1r. We are pleased that, thanks to ongoing developments, students can acquire the latest technologies through increasingly high-quality programmes, knowledge that will form the foundation of their future lives,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he remarked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was stated at the event that the mission of Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University goes beyond the transfer of knowledge. Its aim is to build bridges between education and the economy, theoretical knowledge and practical experience. In this spirit, the institution and Bomboloni Kft. have entered into a strategic partnership to promote research and development as well as sustainable food production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Szabolcs Szabadfi, founder of Bomboloni Kft. \u2013 known to most as \u201cSzabi the Baker\u201d \u2013 explained at the event that he believes in the approach represented by Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University, according to which knowledge is truly valuable only if it can have an impact on the real world.\u00a0\u201cThe aim of our cooperation with the institution is to create a system that can serve as a national example, in which agricultural, food industry and vocational education stakeholders of the region work together on the quality foods of the future. The essence of the concept is to follow the entire value chain from field to table, from wheat cultivation to finished bakery products. This partnership simultaneously serves education, research and development, and production, ensuring that students\u2019 knowledge is directly applied in practice,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the graduates\u2019 oath-taking and the presentation of diplomas, Attila Tatai, president of the sub-branch of the Student Union, delivered a speech, emphasising the strength of the bonds among the agricultural professionals of Mosonmagyar\u00f3v\u00e1r. On behalf of the newly graduated engineers, Mil\u00e1n Kiss said that the Faculty\u2019s community has had a significant impact on students\u2019 lives, providing support, peers and mentors for personal and professional development. Zsolt Kov\u00e1cs-Csomor, president of the Association of \u00d3v\u00e1r Agricultural Professionals, encouraged graduates to continue learning throughout their lives, as this provides confidence for their future professional careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the ceremony, the\u00a0Lecturers for Students<\/em>\u00a0Award was presented to Dr Vikt\u00f3ria Kapcs\u00e1ndi, associate professor at the Department of Food Science. Among the newly graduated students, the\u00a0Pro Auditoribus<\/em>\u00a0Award certificates for outstanding service to the student community were awarded to Mil\u00e1n Kiss, Vivien Simon, Gergely Lang and Patr\u00edcia Vak\u00e1n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
