{"id":9265,"date":"2025-12-10T07:24:44","date_gmt":"2025-12-10T07:24:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/alumni.sze.hu\/en\/?p=9265"},"modified":"2025-12-10T07:24:44","modified_gmt":"2025-12-10T07:24:44","slug":"talented-sze-students-test-skills-at-scientific-and-artistic-student-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alumni.sze.hu\/en\/talented-sze-students-test-skills-at-scientific-and-artistic-student-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"Talented SZE Students Test Skills at Scientific and Artistic Student Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>This year\u2019s autumn Scientific and Artistic Student Conference at Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University again produced impressive results: numerous students received awards, and the best performers will have the opportunity to prove themselves at the national competition in 2027. During the programme, 250 presentations were delivered in 43 university sections, covering topics from the automotive industry and animal science to legal issues, and students performed 130 musical competition pieces. For the fourth time, the event\u2014held together with Talent Day\u2014was also open to high school students, some of whom competed alongside university students, while others took part in five dedicated high school sections.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scientific talent development, professional challenges, and a sense of community: these are what the Scientific and Artistic Student Circle (TDK) offers students. The University\u2019s autumn institutional conference was held this year on 26 November at Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University. At the opening ceremony, Professor Dr M\u00e1rta Konczosn\u00e9 Szombathelyi, Chair of the University Scientific Student Council, noted that the event is part of the National Scientific Student Circle movement, which celebrates its 70th anniversary this year and for which the Hungarian Academy of Sciences\u2014marking its 200th anniversary\u2014is serving as chief patron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThe series of the 2025 National Scientific Student Conferences has recently concluded, with more than five thousand papers presented across sections representing sixteen scientific fields. Among them were 216 students from Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University, sixty-five of whom received awards,\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;she explained. She emphasized that an important element of scientific work is publication and presenting results to the public, and, in this spirit, the University recently launched a video series showcasing students\u2019 achievements.&nbsp;<em>\u201cAt the current conference\u2014which provides eligibility for the 2027 national competition\u2014we can learn about 250 submissions across forty-three sections, and hear 130 musical performances,\u201d&nbsp;<\/em>she added. She also highlighted that this year twelve high school students are competing together with university students, and another forty-seven secondary school pupils are presenting their research results in five sections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Ferenc Friedler, Rector and Vice President for Science at Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University, remarked that scientific work is not primarily done for oneself; therefore, to achieve true success, it must be presented in a way that is understandable to others.\u00a0<em>\u201cThe great advantage of young researchers is that they think freely rather than in established patterns. At the same time, they must be patient and willing to listen to the insights of more experienced colleagues,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he noted. (Photo: Andr\u00e1s Adorj\u00e1n)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The opening ceremony also featured a panel discussion where mentors who earned the OTDK70 pin and the Master Teacher Gold Medal\u2014educators who play a significant role in talent development at the University\u2014shared their experiences. Alongside Professor Dr M\u00e1rta Konczosn\u00e9 Szombathelyi, participants included Dr Zsuzsanna Lanczendorfer, ethnographer and associate professor at the Ap\u00e1czai Csere J\u00e1nos Faculty of Pedagogy, Humanities and Social Sciences; Dr Zsuzsanna Kiss So\u00f3s, associate professor at the Faculty of Health and Sports Sciences; Professor Dr G\u00e1bor Dogossy, Dean of the Audi Hungaria Faculty of Engineering; Professor Dr P\u00e9ter Smuk, Dean of the De\u00e1k Ferenc Faculty of Law and Political Sciences; and the University\u2019s newest Master Teacher Gold Medal recipient, Dr G\u00e1bor Kecsk\u00e9s, associate professor at the Faculty of Law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/admissions.sze.hu\/images\/News\/2025_12\/TDK-osz\/K%C3%A9p2.webp\" alt=\"Students of the institution presented their research results across forty-three sections. This semester, 54 students received the honour, which recognizes academic achievements as well as community and sports accomplishments. At the awards ceremony, the top performers in each section were recognized.
