The plaque of the Hungaroring External Department of Motorsport of Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University was unveiled in a ceremonial setting in the main building of the Hungaroring. The new organisational unit has already become involved in teaching, having delivered a professional programme for students of the Technical-Sport Manager postgraduate programme.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cooperation between Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University and Hungaroring Sport Zrt. is a long-standing and continuously expanding strategic partnership, which has reached another important milestone with the establishment<\/a> of the Hungaroring External Department of Motorsport. The shared ambition is to create a knowledge centre that simultaneously supports the development of engineering expertise, strengthens sport management practices, and harnesses the innovation potential of Hungarian motorsport. The establishment of the department fits into the development pathway that led the two parties to sign strategic agreements in 2022 and 2023, which also saw the University appear with its own stand<\/a> at this year\u2019s Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The department\u2019s plaque was unveiled on 22 November, and the new unit immediately began its educational activities: students of the technical-sport manager postgraduate specialisation took part in a full-day, practice-oriented programme at the Hungaroring. As part of this, they engaged in an interactive round-table discussion with the management of Hungaroring Sport Zrt., including President and CEO Zsolt Gyulay, Deputy CEO Dr \u00c1gnes Luk\u00e1cs, Head of International Relations Ariane Frank-Meulenbelt, Portfolio Director Rebeka Gyulay and Head of Communications Anita T\u00f3th. The experts shared their insights on subjects such as facility maintenance, challenges in sport and venue management, the state of domestic talent development, and the conditions for maintaining a long-term relationship with Formula 1 as a global brand. It was also highlighted how the emergence of new, well-funded venues such as Las Vegas, Qatar or Abu Dhabi is reshaping the competitive environment of international motorsport.<\/p>\n\n\n

The students were also taken behind the scenes of the Hungaroring under the professional guidance of Circuit Director, G\u00e1bor Richter. They learned about the functioning of the main building, gained insight into the work of the race control centre, visited the podium terrace, the main grandstand and the commentary boxes, and finally saw the track itself.<\/p>\n\n\n

\u201cThe Hungaroring External Department of Motorsport is a significant step in terms of talent development and innovation, further strengthening Hungary\u2019s position on the map of international automotive and motorsport. Students can learn from individuals who work at the very forefront of the global scene every day. This partnership contributes not only to the training of outstanding professionals but also to the development of Hungarian technical sports,\u201d<\/em> said Dr Tam\u00e1s Kolossv\u00e1ry, Supervisor of the Technical-Sport Manager programme and Head of the Gy\u0151r Innovation Park of Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Hungaroring External Department of Motorsport is a milestone for the Hungaroring and a strong message about the future of Hungarian motorsport. We are convinced that the cooperation between the circuit and the University will create a knowledge base from which the entire Hungarian motorsport community can benefit. Our aim is to train the professionals here, at home, who can hold their own in the international elite. The establishment of the department ensures that the latest technologies and developments are directly connected to the practical work carried out on the race track. We believe that this cooperation will provide a solid foundation for the long-term development and competitiveness of Hungarian motorsport,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0emphasised Zsolt Gyulay, President and CEO of Hungaroring Sport Zrt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
