The EuroSkills 2025 competition was recently held in Denmark, where Hungary achieved outstanding results: the Hungarian team finished fourth out of 32 countries, earning a total of 16 medals. Among the competitors linked to Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University, Roland Izs\u00f3, a Vehicle Engineering student, won a gold medal together with S\u00e1ndor Cs\u00e1szi in the Industry 4.0 discipline. Graphic design student Amy Anne Funnell earned a bronze medal in graphic design, while Electrical Engineering student P\u00e9ter Losonczi received a medal of excellence in electrical installation. In addition, Bence T\u00e1nczos won bronze in the car mechanics competition; his preparation was supported by Dr P\u00e9ter \u0150ri, lecturer at the Audi Hungaria Faculty of Engineering, and G\u00e1bor Szab\u00f3, teacher at the Centre for Languages and Culture. Furthermore, Tourism and Catering student Berta Horv\u00e1th placed 17th in the waiter category, gaining valuable experience in the global field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Hungarian team finished fourth overall. I believe it is important to channel the knowledge gained in this way back into education \u2013 so that the latest technologies, international examples, and methods appear in the curriculum as well,\u201d<\/em> emphasised Dr P\u00e9ter \u0150ri, who has been supporting the preparation of Hungarian car mechanic competitors since 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Both Roland Izs\u00f3 and P\u00e9ter Losonczi are experienced participants, having competed at the 2024 WorldSkills World Championships in Lyon, where the former earned a medal of excellence and the latter finished in 20th place. Building on last year\u2019s performance, they approached this year\u2019s competition with confidence. \u201cWe have gone through an intense two years, with the last few months being particularly demanding, as after last year\u2019s close result, this year the goal was gold. During preparation, we solved countless practical tasks, and in the competition, we had to expand a production station and make it operational with simulations and industrial networks. (Photo: Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n The intensity of the competition was also felt by P\u00e9ter Losonczi. \u201cAfter the Lyon WorldSkills, this was already my third year of continuous preparation, and I experienced the Herning competition as an enormous thrill. The three days were physically and mentally very demanding, but I learnt a great deal from it, and it was a special feeling to represent Hungary among Europe\u2019s best. Hungary has been participating regularly in the EuroSkills and WorldSkills competitions for over a decade, which have become success stories of cooperation between vocational and higher education.
