Students and lecturers at Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University will once again have the opportunity to take part in the Pann\u00f3nia Scholarship Programme during the 2025\u20132026 academic year. This not only supports their personal development but also increases their employability on the labour market. The university has partner institutions in 43 countries across South and North America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Oceania\u2014students may choose their destination from among them. The programme offers both long-term and short-term mobility. As part of long-term mobility, students can spend 2 to 12 months abroad for studies, research, or internships. Short-term mobility, lasting 2 to 30 days, provides an excellent opportunity to attend conferences, short study programmes, or participate in research projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Using this opportunity, nearly thirty students recently travelled to Czechia for five days. The group included students specialising in technology planning, mechanical automation, vehicle engineering, and doctoral studies.\u00a0\u201cOur goal was to expand the international relations of our department and enable our students\u2014alongside our lecturers\u2014to participate in international projects. It is important that we train highly skilled professionals through practical education aligned with corporate demands,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0said Dr Szabolcs Szalai, Head of the Department of Vehicle Manufacturing and Technology. He added that they had already visited Dormer Pramet in \u0160umperk, north of Brno, at the end of last year. The company, which manufactures cutting inserts, was open to cooperation. As a first significant step, lecturers from Sz\u00e9chenyi University participated in a special study tour together with 24 mechanical engineering students, three vehicle engineering students, and one doctoral student.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Thanks to the Pann\u00f3nia Scholarship Programme, nearly thirty students gained international experience during the five-day Czech visit<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n The students from Gy\u0151r visited one of Europe\u2019s largest hydropower plants near \u0160umperk, where they learned about its operations, including how wear-sensors function. The second stop was at one of the continent\u2019s oldest paper mills, founded in 1562 in Velk\u00e9 Losiny, where they gained further technological insights. Afterwards, they explored the activities of Dormer Pramet, including insert manufacturing and coating, powder production and pressing. Finally, they visited SHM, a company specialising in special tool coatings, and learned about surface topography, optical measurement, and electron microscopy, among other topics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Students from Sz\u00e9chenyi University also gained insight into the operations of Dormer Pramet, a company that manufactures cutting inserts<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe success of the initiative is reflected in the host company\u2019s positive feedback and its expressed willingness to welcome our students again in the future. We have also shared our experience with other international partners, and as a result, several Czech, Polish, German, and Austrian companies have shown interest taking part in similar joint programmes.
