Several employees of Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University, a former student, and cooperation partners received awards from the state and the Gy\u0151r administration on the occasion of the national holiday on March 15th.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Bihari Mih\u00e1ly<\/strong>, a jurist, Doctor of Political Science, Professor Emeritus of Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University, and former President of the Constitutional Court, received the\u00a0Sz\u00e9chenyi Award<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0for his outstanding role in establishing Hungarian political science education, significant contributions in the fields of science, teaching, and educational administration, as well as for his foundational role in organizing Law Education at the university level in Gy\u0151r.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Choi Insu, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Performance Arts at Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University, and pianist, as well as M\u00e1rta M\u00e9sz\u00e1ros, Head of the University\u2019s\u00a0Centre for International Programmes and Alumni<\/em>, received the Civilian Division of the\u00a0Hungarian Order of Merit Knight’s Cross<\/em><\/strong>. Ferenc \u0150rsi, a former student who graduated in Automotive Engineering in Gy\u0151r and the industrial designer of a leading international bus manufacturing company, who maintains an intensive relationship with the alma mater, also received this recognition.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

M\u00e1rta M\u00e9sz\u00e1ros and Dr Choi Insu received the Civilian Division of the Hungarian Order of Merit Knight’s Cross.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

M\u00e9sz\u00e1ros Istv\u00e1n, a master instructor and colleague of the Telecommunications Department, received the Civilian Division of the Hungarian Order of Merit Gold Cross<\/em><\/strong>. Also receiving this recognition was Szabady J\u00e1nos, an economist and local sports historian, who, as former Chief Administration Officer of a water management company operating in the Gy\u0151r region, organized collaboration between the company and the University over several decades. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr D\u00e1niel Pup, university adjunct lecturer, professional coordinator at the University’s Vehicle Industry Research Centre, and lecturer at the Department of Road and Railway Vehicles, was awarded the Civilian Division of the\u00a0Hungarian Order of Merit Silver Cross<\/em><\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr D\u00e1niel Pup and Istv\u00e1n M\u00e9sz\u00e1ros received their awards at the ceremony held at the Pesti Vigad\u00f3.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the ceremonial general assembly held on the occasion of March 15th, Honorary Citizen of Gy\u0151r<\/em><\/strong> titles and the Pro Urbe Gy\u0151r<\/em><\/strong> awards were presented. The municipality conferred honorary citizenship on Dr. Ervin Ker\u00e9nyi, lawyer; B\u00e9la Kulcs\u00e1r, forensic automotive expert; Tibor Vill\u00e1nyi, President of the Gy\u0151r Jewish Community; and Barnab\u00e1s Zal\u00e1n, former CEO of the R\u00e1ba Factory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Ervin Ker\u00e9nyi provided valuable legal advice that significantly supported the development of the predecessor of Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n College in the 1990s and was a member of the professional body preparing the launch of legal education at the Gy\u0151r university level. B\u00e9la Kulcs\u00e1r is an honorary associate professor at Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University and lecturer in traffic safety. Tibor Vill\u00e1nyi is a distinguished figure among the University’s associates, the recipient of the institution’s highest community award, the Pro Universitate Prize. From 1996 to 2001, Barnab\u00e1s Zal\u00e1n, as a member of the Universitas-Gy\u0151r Foundation’s board of trustees, supported the preparation and organization of the Gy\u0151r University with his wide-ranging business connections, thoughtful suggestions, and critically formulated opinions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Painter Tam\u00e1s J\u00e1nos Ferenczi, photographer Gy\u00f6rgy Moln\u00e1r, and, posthumously, poet Cs\u00e1ky Anna, were awarded the\u00a0Pro Urbe Gy\u0151r<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>Prize. Gy\u00f6rgy Moln\u00e1r, as one of the editors of the\u00a0Gy\u0151ri Szalon<\/em>, always warmly welcomes news about Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University’s activities. Anna Cs\u00e1ky was once a language teacher at the institution. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
