In a dignified ceremony, Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University commemorated the events of the 1848\u201349 Revolution and War of Independence. During the event, doctoral degrees were conferred, and prestigious awards were presented to individuals whose work has significantly contributed to the development of the institution.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

„We remember the historically significant and decisive events of 176 years ago when the March youth united for Hungary’s independence and modernization. One thing hasn’t changed since then: everyone must do everything in their power for our resilience and future in their respective fields. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is our responsibility to ensure that our university excels, promoting regional development, enhancing economic competitiveness through our educational, research and development, and innovation activities. This is how we contribute to a strong Hungary,”<\/em> stated Professor Dr Ferenc Friedler, Rector and Vice President for Scientific Affairs of the institution in his ceremonial address. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He emphasized the need for international-level research, collaboration with companies developing cutting-edge technologies, modern infrastructure, and outstanding students and staff to achieve the University’s goals. „In these areas, we have achieved significant results in recent years, as reflected in our institution’s performance on global rankings. We owe gratitude to our lecturers, researchers, and colleagues who laid the groundwork for our success. However, we all know that further efforts are needed as we compete with the world’s most prestigious universities,”<\/em> he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the address, the ceremony continued with the presentation of awards. The\u00a0Pro Universitate<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0Award\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>recognizes University staff and supporters, as well as public figures, who have significantly contributed to the institution’s goals, reputation, authority and esteem. Among the recipients were\u00a0P\u00e1l Schmitt<\/strong>, former President of Hungary and Olympic champion, who received the award for his role as one of the founders of the specialized sports diplomacy training programme at Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University, which operates successfully and uniquely, and for being a key member of its leading team of teachers, as well as\u00a0Professor Dr L\u00edvia Ablonczy-Mih\u00e1lyka<\/strong>, former Vice Dean of the University\u2019s\u00a0Kautz Gyula<\/em>\u00a0Faculty of Economics, former Dean of the\u00a0Ap\u00e1czai Csere J\u00e1nos<\/em>\u00a0Faculty and the institution’s presidential appointee responsible for social relations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The title of Professor Emeritus<\/strong> was conferred upon Dr L\u00e1szl\u00f3 J\u00e1nos Farag\u00f3, <\/strong>retired University professor, <\/strong>for his decades-long teaching and research activities in regional planning and development, as well as in recognition of his mentoring work at the institution’s Doctoral School of Regional Sciences and Business Administration & Management Sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Senate of Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University awarded the title of Honorary University Professor<\/strong> to diplomat Dr Barnab\u00e1s Kov\u00e1cs<\/strong>, founding director of the University\u2019s Budapest Innovation and Training Centre<\/em>, and to internationally recognized radio telecommunications experts Dr Istv\u00e1n Bozs\u00f3ki<\/strong> and Dr J\u00f3zsef Orb\u00e1n<\/strong>. The title of Honorary University Associate Professor<\/strong> was awarded to M\u00f3nika Czechmeister<\/strong>, head of internal communications at Audi Hungaria<\/em>, Annam\u00e1ria Faludi-J\u00e1ri<\/strong>, a former student of Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University, and Andr\u00e1s Levente G\u00e1l<\/strong>, founder and managing partner of G\u00e1l & Partners Law Firm, while honorary master instructor<\/strong> title was awarded to L\u00edvia Herold<\/strong>, instructor at the Luk\u00e1cs S\u00e1ndor Automotive and Mechanical Engineering Vocational School and College of Gy\u0151r.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Board of Trustees\u2019\u00a0Gold Commendation Certificate<\/strong>\u00a0was awarded to\u00a0Katalin Rozsos<\/strong>, a teacher at Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University’s\u00a0\u00d6veges K\u00e1lm\u00e1n<\/em>\u00a0Practice Elementary School, and\u00a0Zs\u00f3fia Rita T\u00e1trai<\/strong>, head of the Academic Administration Department at the University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University recognizes long-term outstanding teaching activities with the Pro Educatione<\/em> Award. Recipients of this distinction included Dr J\u00falia Sz\u0151ke<\/strong>, Vice Dean for International Relations at the Ap\u00e1czai Csere J\u00e1nos<\/em> Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences and Head of  the Department of International Studies and Communication, as well as Dr L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Knapp<\/strong>, Vice Dean for Educational Affairs at the De\u00e1k Ferenc<\/em> Faculty of Law and Political Sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three individuals were honoured with the Bakonyi Istv\u00e1n Outstanding Educator Award<\/strong>: Dr \u00c9va G\u00f6nd\u00f6r<\/strong>, associate professor at the Department of Labour Law and Social Law, Mrs G. Kov\u00e1cs<\/strong>, master instructor at the Department of Machine Design, and Dr Rich\u00e1rd Horv\u00e1th<\/strong>, associate professor at the Department of Logistics and Transport. Dr Di\u00e1na Sarolta Hen\u00e9zi<\/strong>, Deputy Dean for Education at the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Transport Sciences, Dr Eszter Etelka Kert\u00e9sz-Gy\u00f6rffy<\/strong>, instructor at the Veres P\u00e9ter Agricultural and Food Industry Technical School, Dr Lajos Mikl\u00f3sy<\/strong>, chairman, board of trustees of the Gy\u0151r Industrial History Foundation, and Dr \u00c1d\u00e1m Titrik<\/strong>, associate professor at the Department of Road and Railway Vehicles, were awarded the Outstanding Mentor Award<\/strong>. The Pro Scientia Arraboniensis <\/em><\/strong>Award<\/strong>, recognizing outstanding scientific and publication achievements, was presented to Dr Majid Movahedi Rad<\/strong>, a researcher at the Department of Structural and Geotechnical Engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event also saw the presentation of the Excellent Staff Award<\/em><\/strong> to M\u00e1rta N\u00e9meth<\/strong>, reference librarian at the University Library and Archives, and Zsuzsanna Kuti-Somogyv\u00e1ri<\/strong>, training specialist at the Adult Education and Competence Development Centre. Dr R\u00f3bert Bartk\u00f3<\/strong>, associate professor at the Department of Criminal Sciences, received the Student-Friendly University Award<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a performance by students Blanka Nagy and P\u00e1l Varga from the Faculty of Performing Arts,\u00a0doctoral degrees<\/strong>\u00a0were awarded to the following:\u00a0Dr J\u00e1nos Tenke, Dr Georgina Tak\u00e1cs, Dr J\u00e1cint T. Notterpek, Dr Zolt\u00e1n Zalahegyi, Dr P\u00e9ter Zsigmond Szab\u00f3, Dr Gergely Mikulai, Dr Heba Zaher, Dr Hanga Horv\u00e1th, Dr \u00c1gnes Csiba-Herczeg, Dr R\u00e9ka Orsolya Szab\u00f3, Dr Mutua Kennedy Ndue, Dr Attila Lajos Makai, Dr Veronika Szentes-D\u00e9zsi, Dr Andrea W\u00e9ber, Dr Klaudia Kulcs\u00e1r-Talab\u00e9r, Dr Bal\u00e1zs Sz\u0171cs, Dr Istv\u00e1n Szalay, Dr Anna R\u00e9ka Sud\u00e1r, Dr Tam\u00e1s L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Storcz, Dr Zolt\u00e1n N\u00e9meth, Dr J\u00e1nos Holl\u00f3si, Dr Melinda \u00c1gnes Kov\u00e1cs, Dr Mikl\u00f3s Csizmadia, Dr Tam\u00e1s Budai, Dr Namer Samer, Dr D\u00e1vid Sipos, Dr Andor Nagy, Dr J\u00e1nos Csaba Kun\u00a0<\/strong>\u00e9s\u00a0Dr Tam\u00e1s Kolossv\u00e1ry.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Habilitation Council of Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University granted habilitation doctoral degrees<\/strong> to six university associate professors: Dr Csaba T\u00f3th-Nagy<\/strong> (Audi Hungaria<\/em> Faculty of Automotive Engineering), Dr B\u00e1lint Nagy<\/strong> (University of Duna\u00fajv\u00e1ros), Dr D\u00e1vid Fekete<\/strong> (Albert K\u00e1zm\u00e9r <\/em>Mosonmagyar\u00f3v\u00e1r Faculty), Dr Bal\u00e1zs H\u00fath<\/strong> (Albert K\u00e1zm\u00e9r <\/em>Mosonmagyar\u00f3v\u00e1r Faculty), Dr Zolt\u00e1n Varga<\/strong> (Albert K\u00e1zm\u00e9r <\/em>Mosonmagyar\u00f3v\u00e1r Faculty), and Dr Anik\u00f3 \u00c9va Ny\u00e9ki<\/strong> (Albert K\u00e1zm\u00e9r<\/em> Mosonmagyar\u00f3v\u00e1r Faculty).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three retiring staff members,\u00a0Ms Tiham\u00e9r Csete<\/strong>,\u00a0Dr \u00c1gota Andr\u00e1sik-Kocsis<\/strong>, and\u00a0Erzs\u00e9bet Horv\u00e1th- Fekete<\/strong>, were presented with service recognition certificates at the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
