An exhibition presenting the results of the Folk Architecture Programme will be open until mid-March in main hall of Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University. The exhibition, organised by the institution’s G\u00e1bor Winkler College, was opened on 21 February by Andr\u00e1s Krizs\u00e1n, President of the Association of Hungarian Architects, who spoke about the link between sustainability and folk architecture, the modernity of traditional building techniques and the experience of the „Grandfather’s House” apprentice training programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The visitors – among whom were not only distinguished members of the architectural profession, but also many lecturers, ethnographers and students of several faculties – were welcomed by Dr. J\u00e1nos Sz\u00e9p, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Transport Sciences of the University and Dr. Andr\u00e1s Ve\u00f6re\u00f6s, Head of the Department of Architectural History and Urban Planning. The opening ceremony was enriched by a zither performance of Vir\u00e1g N\u00e9meth and Zs\u00f3fia Lengyel, first-year students of the faculty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition includes buildings from Gy\u0151r-Moson-Sopron county, Mecs\u00e9r, Szils\u00e1rk\u00e1ny and Kaj\u00e1rp\u00e9c. The building and structural models placed in the space are the work of Sz\u00e9chenyi University students from recent years. The Department of History of Architecture and Town planning is also involved in the programme through mentoring and research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
