M\u00e1rta Konczosn\u00e9 Szombathelyi, Professor of the Department of Management and Marketing at the Kautz Gyula Faculty of Economics of Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University, was elected Vice-Chair of the Interdepartmental Standing Committee on Communication and Media Studies of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (HAS). She has been participating in the work of the committee as the Chair of the GTB Communication Management Working Committee of Department IX since 2019. In the latter body, she works together with several colleagues from Sz\u00e9chenyi.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following a decision of the Social Sciences and Humanities Departments of the Academy of Sciences, the Interdepartmental Standing Committee on Communication and Media Studies was established on 18 May 2018, with delegates from Academic Departments I and II. For the first time in the history of the Academy, a permanent interdepartmental committee has been established to represent the field of communication and media in the Academy. The main purpose of the creation of the committee is to provide an academic forum for the discussion of research and educational issues in the field of communication and media, to strengthen the position of the discipline within the academic institutional system and to support the science communication activities of the MTA. The 24 members of the Committee represent a broad range of research workshops and trends in Hungarian communication and media studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first chairman of the committee was Prof. Dr. Krist\u00f3f Ny\u00edri, academician, full member of the HAS, the vice-chairman was Prof. Dr. Petra Acz\u00e9l, professor, and the secretary was Dr. Zsolt Boda, associate professor. After the expiry of the Committee’s mandate in February 2024, a new Chair was elected: the President is Prof. Dr. G\u00e1bor Sz\u00e9csi, Professor (University of P\u00e9cs), the Vice President is Prof. Dr. M\u00e1rta Konczosn\u00e9, Professor (Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University), and the Secretary is Prof. Dr. P\u00e9ter Bajomi-L\u00e1z\u00e1r, Professor (Budapest University of Economics).<\/p>\n\n\n
