The SZE team concluded the 16th European Universities Rowing Championships with one silver and one bronze medal, as well as a number of strong finishes in the finals. Eszter Feh\u00e9rv\u00e1ri finished second in the women\u2019s single sculls, while M\u00e1rk Barab\u00e1s and Zsombor Balog won the bronze medal in the men\u2019s lightweight pairs.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

 Lake Jarun in Zagreb recently hosted the 16th European Universities Rowing Championship, at which SZE\u2019s athletes won two medals and secured several places in the finals, finishing among the continent\u2019s best in a number of events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The finest SZE medal went to Eszter Feh\u00e9rv\u00e1ri, who finished second in the women\u2019s single sculls. In the men\u2019s lightweight pairs final, M\u00e1rk Barab\u00e1s and Zsombor Balog won the bronze medal in an extremely close race.<\/p>\n\n\n

Lili Romsics and Eszter Holpert also came close to the podium, placing fourth in the women\u2019s coxless pairs. M\u00e1ty\u00e1s Demk\u00f3 crossed the line fifth in the men\u2019s lightweight single sculls, while the mixed quadruple sculls crew comprising Lili Romsics, Eszter Holpert, P\u00e9ter L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Gasztonyi and \u00c1d\u00e1m Csizmadia also took fifth place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the men\u2019s coxless pair, Barnab\u00e1s Gasztonyi and D\u00e1niel Pint\u00e9r finished sixth, while P\u00e9ter L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Gasztonyi and \u00c1d\u00e1m Csizmadia took seventh place. Oliv\u00e9r Boros also placed seventh in the men\u2019s single sculls. In the same event, Attila Nagy came tenth and D\u00e1niel Pint\u00e9r eleventh, while Zsombor Balog and M\u00e1ty\u00e1s Demk\u00f3 crossed the line in eleventh place in the men\u2019s lightweight double sculls.<\/p>\n\n\n

The closing ceremony of the continental championship also featured a special moment for Hungarian university rowing. At the ceremony, Dr Zolt\u00e1n Alf\u00f6ldi, a lecturer and rowing coach at SZE, represented Hungary on behalf of the Hungarian University Sports Federation (MEFS) and the Hungarian Rowing Federation. With the handover of the EUSA flag, the baton for hosting the next European Universities Rowing Championship was passed to Hungary. The continental championship will take place in Sukor\u00f3 on Lake Velence, in 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n
