Providing students with modern, safe, and affordable housing throughout their studies is one of Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University’s strategic priorities. In line with this commitment, the University intends to replace the current hall of residence on Gazd\u00e1sz utca with a contemporary, nearly zero-energy building. The new facility would not only serve students but also provide accommodation for members of the teaching staff, researchers and the University’s domestic and international guests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the plans, the new building will have a net floor area of nearly 5,000 square metres. Spread over three levels, it will feature 138 twin rooms and apartments, providing accommodation for approximately 270 residents. The development also includes the construction of parking spaces and bicycle storage facilities. Following the completion of the conditional public procurement procedure and the availability of the required funding, construction could be completed as early as the end of 2028.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The new Hall of Residence is planned to be built on the site behind the PHARE Building. To sustain this growth in the long term, it is essential to provide modern student accommodation,”<\/em> emphasized Dr Tam\u00e1s T\u00f3th<\/strong>, Research Professor and Dean of the Faculty. He added that the University has completed all preparatory work, making the securing of financial resources the project’s highest priority.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n „We are confident that all stakeholders in the region recognize the importance of this development. We therefore seek the support of the region’s Member of Parliament and the Municipality of Mosonmagyar\u00f3v\u00e1r in securing the necessary funding. This investment will benefit not only the University but also the future of the city and the wider region, further strengthening Mosonmagyar\u00f3v\u00e1r’s role and attractiveness,”<\/em> the Dean said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The proposed development is also strongly supported by students. „Access to quality student accommodation is one of the key factors when choosing a university.
