Nearly two hundred graduating students of the Albert K\u00e1zm\u00e9r Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences at Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University received their degrees at a ceremonial graduation event on 3 July. The occasion not only celebrated the new graduates but also recognised professionals and partners who have made outstanding contributions to the Faculty\u2019s development.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Albert K\u00e1zm\u00e9r Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences, regarded as the first institution of higher agricultural education in Europe, is one of the most significant centres of agricultural education in Hungary. Building on more than two centuries of tradition, recent infrastructure developments and a renewed strategic vision, the Faculty offers modern, practice-oriented programmes that prepare students for the challenges of sustainability, agricultural digitalisation and innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSensor technologies, drones, artificial intelligence, data-driven decision-making support and automation are all areas that are transforming agriculture. It is important to emphasise, however, that technology alone is not enough. It must be combined with well-trained professionals, sound judgement, ethical responsibility, practical experience and the agricultural mindset that understands that land, animals, plants and food are not merely factors of production but part of our shared responsibility,\u201d<\/em> said Dean Dr Tam\u00e1s T\u00f3th in his ceremonial address. He also recalled that this year marks the tenth anniversary of the Faculty\u2019s integration into Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to their degrees, graduates also received certificates confirming their status as Honorary Citizens of Mosonmagyar\u00f3v\u00e1r<\/em>. Welcoming speeches were delivered by Mikl\u00f3s Szab\u00f3, Mayor of the city, and Zsolt Kov\u00e1cs-Csomor, President of the Association of \u00d3v\u00e1r Agricultural Professionals. The Students\u2019 Union recognised Zolt\u00e1n Cseh with the Pro Auditoribus<\/em> commemorative certificate for his work supporting the student residence community, while Em\u0151ke Ruzsics received a bronze Pro Auditoribus<\/em> award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the ceremony, the honorary title of Associate Professor was conferred by the Senate of Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University upon Dr G\u00e1bor R\u00e9czey, Head of Secretariat and Deputy Director-General for Fisheries within the Deputy State Secretariat for Agricultural Economics Production of the Ministry responsible for Agriculture and Food Economy. The Faculty and the Association of \u00d3v\u00e1r Agricultural Professionals also presented a commemorative certificate to Tibor Z\u00e1szl\u00f3s, President of the Hungarian Association of Animal Breeders, in recognition of his support for Hungarian livestock education, research and professional development. The Model Farm<\/em> title, awarded for the twenty-first time this year, was presented to Cont-Eco Ltd, Breier Farm Ltd, D&D Farm Ltd and M\u00e9sz\u00e1ros Winery Ltd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the programme, recent achievements and distinctions of professionals associated with the Faculty were also highlighted. Congratulations were extended to Dr B\u00e9la Urb\u00e1nyi on his election as Vice-President of the Agricultural Sciences Section of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and to research professor and dean Dr Tam\u00e1s T\u00f3th, who received the Pro Arte Veterinaria<\/em> Medal for strengthening professional cooperation between Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University and the University of Veterinary Medicine. Further recognition was given to Dr Anik\u00f3 Juh\u00e1sz on her appointment as Deputy State Secretary, and to Dr Judit Hegyi, who was reaffirmed as Vice-President for Life Sciences of the Veszpr\u00e9m Regional Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and additionally received the MTA 200 Silver Commemorative Medal<\/em>. The ceremony also acknowledged Professor Gyula Pinke\u2019s Outstanding University Lecturer of Mosonmagyar\u00f3v\u00e1r<\/em> award, Zsolt Kov\u00e1cs-Csomor\u2019s Agricultural Innovator of the Year<\/em> title, and Dr L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Palkovics Amand\u2019s decoration with the Officer\u2019s Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
