For the seventh consecutive time, Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University has been included in the sustainability ranking of the Times Higher Education higher education evaluation organisation. The institution improved its results in several sub-areas and continues to be among the world\u2019s best based on its performance related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the most prestigious higher education ranking organisations, Times Higher Education (THE), has published its 2026 Sustainability Impact Rankings, which assess universities\u2019 social and environmental impact in relation to the achievement of the UN\u2019s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The evaluation continues to focus on how higher education institutions contribute to addressing global challenges, in the areas of health, education, economic development, innovation or social responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University has now appeared on the list for the seventh time, ranking in the 601\u2013800 band. The institution participated in the assessment across eight areas linked to the Sustainable Development Goals, four of which \u2013 \u201cGood Health and Well-being\u201d, \u201cQuality Education\u201d, \u201cIndustry, Innovation and Infrastructure\u201d, and \u201cDecent Work and Economic Growth\u201d \u2013 showed improvement compared to the previous year. It performed particularly well in the latter category, placing among the world\u2019s top 400, and also achieved a top 300 position in the \u201cSustainable Cities and Communities\u201d category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSustainability is a defining principle of our University\u2019s operation, present in our education, research, innovation, and social engagement alike. We are especially pleased that we have improved our results in several areas, as this confirms the dedicated work of our community. Our goal remains to equip our students with the knowledge and mindset that will help them address global challenges and contribute to building a sustainable future,\u201d<\/em> said Dr Eszter Luk\u00e1cs, Vice President for International Affairs and Strategic Relations at the University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University also appears in other THE rankings: in the World University Rankings<\/a> it is placed in the 1501+ category; in the Young University Rankings<\/a>, in the 501\u2013600 band; and in the Interdisciplinary Science Rankings<\/a>, in the 601\u2013800 range. In addition, it is listed in subject rankings<\/a> in the fields of business and economics, engineering, and computer science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
